MOTHER's DAY FLY IN BREAKFAST 2009
Thanks go to everyone for flying in or driving in to the Sundre Airport for the Sundre Flying Club (COPA FLIGHT #146 SUNDRE) Fly-In Breakfast, Sunday, May 10, 2009.
The Registration showed an official count of 79. However, Sheldon Valentine's count while Marshalling was 114, which beat the Club's previous record of 104.
According to Jenn on Cash, 580 breakfasts were served.
What a Day and what a fabulous show of aircraft for us on the front Registration: Bruce Goodwin, Ria White and Norma Bicknell, while the fellas toiled behind the three BBQ's in one of the new hangars.
The Prizes of 25 Litres of AVGAS each went to:
- At 7:00 am, Sunday, May 9th (Mothers' Day) Sundre Flying Club Member, Bill Beaton, opened the Club's Annual 2009 Breakfast by flying-in from the Springbank Airport in his Harmon Rocket II. Bill stayed to help flip pancakes for the 625 breakfasts that were served.
- Bob Collier, from Crossfield AB: FIRST IN at 7:15 AM
- Gordon Jones, 86, from High River, AB, in his Tiger Moth: OLDEST PILOT
- David Deucher, 19, from Wetaskiwin: YOUNGEST PILOT
- Don Hoffermahl, 246 NM, from Biggar Saskatchewan: FARTHEST
The Sundre Flying Club (Mountain View Pilots and Flying Association) meetings are the Second-Wednesday-of-the-Month at 7:30 PM (Coffee on at 7) in the Terminal Building at the Sundre Airport.
The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Controlled-Powered Flight in Canada at the Calgary/Springbank Airport, July 17 - 19, 2009, was a great success and was the first stop from British Columbia by the International Air Rally team participating in the successful Cross-Canada Air Rally to the home of the first controlled-powered flight of the Silver Dart on February 23, 1909, Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. www.airrally.com
