A Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary association that brings elements of the business community together into one single influential and respected voice. Chambers speak for business on matters of national, provincial and community concerns and provide leadership to give business a strong collective voice. As a representative of the Sundre community, it is our Chamber's mandate to unite citizens through promotion of our commercial, industrial, civic and agricultural interests, while working for effective legislation and administration at all government levels. As Chambers, we study proposed legislation. We identify their implications to you. Everyday we strive to protect your rights and the rights of all business. Too great a dependence upon government aid destroys the initiative and independence of spirit that enables our economy to thrive. As a business owner, you are dependent on the growth and prosperity of your area to make your business more profitable. The Sundre Chamber of Commerce invites business and professional people from all segments of the community to join the Chamber and keep them working together as a lobbying voice for a free business environment. The Chamber of Commerce movement actively supports and promotes Canada's system of private enterprise by utilizing the full potential of the private enterprise system and enabling Chamber of Commerce membership to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually. The Chamber represents and promotes the Sundre area's economy and encourages business and industrial investment that will provide employment and broaden the tax base. Chambers are increasingly involved in non-commercial areas: education, human relations, environmental, cultural and government issues. These day-to-day challenges have allowed the Chambers to become a viable force in seeking solutions to today's social problems. Basic to all activities of the Chamber is the unifying influence. Through committee involvement, every Chamber member contributes to an effort that is mutually beneficial to his community and to himself. You enjoy living and doing business in the community. You are dependent on the growth and prosperity of your area to make business more profitable. And through the integral role of involved and concerned citizens, the system of free enterprise will be preserved with the assistance of your local Chamber of Commerce. You pay your share of taxes. You have a right to be heard. Your Chamber of Commerce ensures that you are heard.
