The Sundre and Area Tourism Team (SATT) is a group of volunteers who work together to develop and promote tourism in Sundre, Alberta and area, with cooperative tourism partners to enhance economic and recreational possibilities. SATT works through the leadership of the Sundre & District Chamber of Commerce.

Restaurant and Gas Station. To get there, travel about 19km west out of Sundre on Hwy 27, turn south on the Coal Camp Road, and travel that for about 55 km until you reach a stop sign. Turn left and travel until you cross a bridge. The lodge will be on your right hand side shortly after that. The lodge is a 12-unit motel and is open year round.

The Sundre Golf Club is an 18 hole facility that is carved out of the foothills forest with a beautiful view of the Red Deer River valley and Rocky Mountains. The fairways are narrow, putting a premium on accurate tee shots and the greens are hard to hit which makes the Sundre Golf course an honest test of golf. The Club offers a wide range of services including power cart, pull cart and golf club rentals, a fully stocked pro shop with name brand equipment, clothing and accessories as well as a club repair service for your convenience. A practice facility with driving range, putting green, chipping area and sand trap is also available for use to sharpen your game. Rounding out the Sundre Golf Club is a food and beverage service with a restaurant and banquet room able to accommodate up to 160 people. If you would like to beat the crowds, the noise, the 5 - 6 hour rounds of golf and the high fees, come out to Sundre and enjoy one of the best golf courses around. CAMPGROUNDS & RECREATIONAL AREAS
BURNT TIMBER PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This recreation area can be reached in two different ways. The first way is to head towards Mountain Aire Lodge by taking the Coal Camp Road off of Hwy 584. The Burnt Timber area is located around 15km from there. The second route is south on Hwy 22, until the Water Valley turnoff, about 5km past Cremona. From the turnoff it is about 28km from the 4-way-stop in Water Valley, turning off on Hwy 940 (the Forestry Trunk Road) and heading 24km north. For activities, there is swimming, tubing and fishing to do in the creek, as well as hiking. Firewood is included in the camping fee.
CARTIER CREEK PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This campsite provides an access point to the Red Deer River. It is located 22km southwest of Sundre, off Hwy 27 on the Coal Camp Road. The easy access to the Red Deer River offers various water activities including canoeing, kayaking, rafting and fishing.
DEER CREEK PROVINCIAL RECREATIONAL AREA

Located 45km southwest of Sundre, Deer Creek is a "group use only" recreation area. It is operated by Mountain Aire Lodge. Canoeing, kayaking and fishing are available to visitors, with horseback riding and OHV trail access nearby. Although horses are permitted in the recreation area, OHV unloading within and travel to trails from the recreation area are prohibited.
DICKSON DAM PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This recreation area is located east of Sundre, and can be reached by traveling north on Hwy 22, then go east on Hwy 587. The turnoff for Dickson Dam - which is on Glennifer Lake - is 22km, turning north on Range Road 32 (follow the signs). The campground a little more than 20km, from there, follow the signs around Glennifer Lake. There are 83 sites in the recreation area, with other campgrounds located around the lake as well. There are many water activities to do in this recreation area, including fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, horseshoes and great hunting areas in the vicinity.
FALLEN TIMBER PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This recreation area is located 20km south of Sundre on secondary Hwy 760, then 5km east on an access road. There are lots of water activities for the family to enjoy, like creek canoeing, kayaking and fishing.

The Greenwood Campground is located on the west bank of the Red Deer River with 30 sites. 1 full service, 18 power only, and 10 unserviced lots. Heated washrooms with showers. Playground. Day use areas. Picnic shelter. Sani-station. Firewood.
JAMES RIVER BRIDGE PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This recreation area is located 14km north of Sundre, east of Hwy 22. There are many activities for families to enjoy, including canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. There are 8 sites.
JAMES-WILSON PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This area is located 40km west of Sundre on the Forestry Trunk Road (south on Hwy 734). There is access to hiking, equestrian facilities, and fishing.

The campgrounds have two separate water pumps (drinkable), outdoor toilets, garbage bins, volleyball/badminton courts, horseshoe pits and grassy areas for games. There is electricity at some sites.
RAVEN PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

Located 16km east of Caroline, the Raven Provincial Recreation Area is a great place for camping in the Sundre area. To get to this recreation area, travel 35km to Caroline on Hwy 22, then go east on Hwy 54. Activities range from kayaking, canoeing, fishing and swimming at thes facility, which is located on the Raven River.
RED DEER RIVER PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This area is located 60km southwest of Sundre (about 45 minutes) on the Forestry Trunk Road (Secondary Hwy 734). The park has a beach, canoeing and kayaking, fishing and swimming, as well as access to hiking. The area boasts to be an excellent place for river rafting. There are 64 RV or tent sites operated by Mountain Aire Lodge. There is a private group area available by reservation.
RED LODGE PROVINCIAL PARK

A very popular campground. The park is located about 35km from Sundre traveling north on James River Road (Centre Street in Sundre becomes this road) and turning east at the junction of Secondary Hwy 587. There are 120 sites and plenty of activities to do at Red Lodge Park, expecially water activities. The river moves slowly through the park area, so kinds and adults can cool off on a hot summer day. Canoeing and tube rentals are available at the park and there are horseshoe pits as well. Fishing is permitted.
TALL TIMBER LEISURE PARK

Nestled among the forest on the banks of the Red Deer River, Tall Timber leisure Park is a place where you can excape to a more tranquil way of life centered around family, friends and community. Overnight camping, 50 serviced lots, 10 unserviced lots. Private lots for sale. This is a private, gated community. It provides a convenience store, community center, indoor pool and hot tub, full-time resident manager.
TAY RIVER PROVINCIAL RECREATION AREA

This area is located 16km southwest of Caroline on Secondary Hwy 591. There are lots of activities to be enjoyed at this area including canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. There is access to horeseback riding trails, OHV trails, and nearby snowmobiling trails, but theses activities are not permitted within the recreation area.
WESTWARD HO COUNTY PARK

This county owned campground is located just east of Sundre on Hwy 27. There are 600 sites for overnight use, starting at $ 18 for the non-service sites. This site has a beach with swimming area, fishing, hiking trails, playground, fire pits, free firewood and horseshoe pits. A mini-golf course is also available, which includes a driving range. There are payphones located on the premises, as well as washrooms, camp kitchens, tables, showers, tapped water, sewage disposal, change houses, and on-site security. A concession stand is also available.
